Vertical Art Athletics is your ultimate pole & aerial training resource for preventing injury and enhancing performance. The course series is designed to help you optimize training and to provide tools to empower you as a teacher.
In 2016, Pole Art Athletics launched as the first pole teacher training program focused on dance science; created and presented by Physical Therapists, Physiotherapists, Kinesiologists, Exercise Physiologists, & Dance Scientists. With increasing demands from combined pole/aerial studios, the curriculum expanded to Vertical Art Athletics in 2019 to be more inclusive of our art form. With knowledge from performing arts exercise specialists, the vertical art athletics curriculum is created to provide pole dancers, aerial artists, & teachers with the knowledge they need to progress quickly & safely.

With love for performing arts and understanding of human movement our team of presenter provide a unique perspective as fitness professionals. Pole & aerial fitness instructors are responsible for the physical safety of their participants. Our innovative teacher training program trains instructors to customize their classes, to allow for all participants to safely learn & enjoy the experience. The series of courses provide opportunities for instructors to focus on a specialty area or to continue exploring a variety of training methods. Our goal is to create high quality pole & aerial fitness instructors through our series of courses, to inspire pole & aerial instructors to be the best they can, without their participants losing a day to injury.

The Vertical Foundation is a total body conditioning philosophy combining Pilates, Pole, & Aerial. The Vertical Foundation repertoire emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core stability, mobility, and awareness to develop efficient, graceful movement with the 50+ functional exercises. Once understanding of how to control the spine & joints dynamically through movement are achieved with supporting stability; pole & aerial instructors will be better prepared to move onto any of the secondary courses in the curriculum.
Vertical Barre is a total body conditioning philosophy combining Corrective Dance Exercises, Ballet Barre, Pilates Ped-o-pull, Pole, & Aerial. The Vertical Barre repertoire will be branching out from the Vertical Foundation core to focus on the periphery; specifically: shoulders, hips, & ankles with 60+ functional barre exercises on the pole & aerial apparatus. Preparing pole & aerial athletes to safely achieve flexibility, strength, & artistry.
Vertical Yoga supports pole & aerial lovers from the inside out, creating resilience of mind & body. Designed to help vertical athletes utilize yoga principles of movement, breath, & meditation to improve performance. Understand how to feed fascia for an advanced nervous system that is dynamically mobile & proprioceptively responsive. Utilize sports psychology to go beyond the bodily aesthetics, teaching our community to look inward, examining the needs of the body & the Self. This is a yogic practice built specifically for the needs of artistic athletes.
Vertical Mobility not only focuses on stretching, it looks at the components in human anatomy and functional biomechanics that contribute to flexibility and more importantly Movement! The science of flexibility training is growing with 12 different types of stretching & mobility techniques. Learn when and how each type of mobility training can be implemented in your pole & aerial training.
